New residential neighbourhoods and industrial areas in The City of Red Deer are planned based on principles, guidelines and standards supported by "smart growth" ideas (i.e. sustainable development practices). The Neighbourhood and Industrial Area Planning Guidelines and Standards describe these requirements and outline in more detail the planning and subdivision process.
