To ensure that people in Red Deer have high quality emergency fire, medical, rescue and hazardous material services, as well as the knowledge to safeguard themselves from fire and injury.

We serve our community with highly skilled and committed staff, safely using modern methods and equipment that is well located and maintained.

Originally known as the Fire Department, The City of Red Deer Emergency Services department changed its name to reflect the variety of services that it provides including:

  • advanced medical, high angle rescue, ice rescue
  • vehicle extrication
  • trench rescue
  • river rescue
  • hazardous materials response (HAZMAT)
  • fire
  • inspections
  • investigations
  • public education

Emergency Services is comprised of six branches:

  1. Administration
  2. Fire & Injury Prevention
  3. Fire Suppression
  4. EMS (Emergency Medical Services)
  5. 911 Dispatchers
  6. Mechanical.

Emergency Services operates a 911 emergency call system, which serves both The City of Red Deer and surrounding communities. Red Deer Emergency Services employs over 130 people to provide round-the-clock Fire and Ambulance service.
