The City of Red Deer wants to help you get started. We are now signing people up for our Composting at Home program. Interested Red Deer residents will receive all the training and tools needed to start composting. If you are interested email environmental.initiatives@reddeer.ca.

What's involved?
The first 300 households will receive:
• Free compost bin
• Free kitchen catcher to store organic waste from your kitchen
• Free aerating tool to help get air circulating in your composter
• Free workshop to train you to compost
• Free access to expertise & help throughout the process

Participants must:
• Live in the city of Red Deer
• Not be currently composting but want to learn
• Attend a composting workshop
• Commit to composting for one year
• Measure and report on your results and experience

If you meet these requirements and are willing to make the commitment, email us at environmental.initiatives@reddeer.ca and we will send you an introductory survey. Once you have completed the survey we will send you a list of workshop dates and a tool to track your trash until the workshop. At the workshop you will receive the tools and training you need, and sign a commitment form. Then you will be ready to start! See more program details here.

What if I already compost?
If you already compost and want to spread the word, take our survey or put a sign on your lawn. You will receive a kitchen catcher or a Wing-digger compost aerating tool. Email us at environmental.initiatives@reddeer.ca.
