We are now revising the vision and core directions, taking into account what you told us.

You will have another opportunity to provide input into the Environmental Master Plan this autumn when the draft final report is ready. We will be holding another community workshop, have discussion forums online, and be at community events. Stay tuned for more information.

To see the entire draft Situation Assessment, which includes the vision and core directions follow these instructions:

1. Right click on the “start” button and choose “explore”.

2. In the location field type the ftp address: ftp://connect.urbanstrategies.com/

3. The user name and password are: (case sensitive)

This will open the ftp folder within that window. To minimize download time, right click on the PDF file and select “Save target as” to save the document to your computer.

Next Steps
This feedback on the draft vision and core directions will help us reshape them so they resonate for Red Deerians. We will then present them to The City's Environmental Advisory Committee (EAC). The EAC will make a recommendation to City Council whether or not to accept the proposed vision and core directions.

If Council gives their approval we will continue with the next steps in the plan process by establishing goals, targets and tracking systems to achieve our environmental vision. The plan will also include strategy and program ideas for how to achieve our goals.

Red Deerians will have the opportunity to give feedback on the draft final report before it is adopted by Council. There will be another community workshop in the autumn, as well as the ongoing ability to participate on the on-line forum. Public participation is to key creating a plan that is meaningful to Red Deerians.

What is the Environmental Master Plan?
The City of Red Deer will use the Environmental Master Plan to define its environmental priorities and goals. It will also provide strategies for how to reach those goals in the future.

The Environmental Master Plan will address the environmental component of The City’s Strategic Plan and Municipal Sustainability Framework. It will include a 25-year vision with short, medium and long term recommendations to address municipal environmental priorities.
