Jane's Walk May 5 & 6
Jane’s Walk is a series of free neighbourhood walking tours that hels put people in touch with their environment and with each other by bridging social and geographic gaps and creating a space for cities to discover themselves. Since its inception in 2007, Jane’s Walk has happened in cities across North America, and is growing internationally.

Walks in Red Deer:

1. Urban Nature Walks
May 5 & 6, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. each day
Appreciate urban nature with a guided walk through the Gaetz Lakes Sanctuary.
Estimated length: 1 hour
Meet at the Kerry Wood Nature Centre: 6300 45 Ave.
End location the same
Free parking available on site
Not fully accessible; walking on unpaved paths through the Sanctuary
Public transit: route 5 to 45 Ave then walk several blocks north
No need to rsvp.

2. Riverlands Redevelopment & Downtown Design

Guided by John Hull
Join us for an overview of the Riverlands Area Redevelopment Plan and the Downtown Design Guidelines.
Meet at the Wading Pool 47th Street and 52nd Ave.
Lots of on street parking

We are safe, we feel safe, when we are surrounded by others. Join Steve Woolrich for an informative walk along historic Gaetz Avenue and explore the street enhancements through the eyes of a Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) practitioner. We will be stopping at various points of interest on “Little Gaetz” during our walk.

4. Reflections On The Past - Red Deer and Its Early Urban Plan

Estimated duration is 90 minutes
Did you know Red Deer had a town plan in place in 1911-1913? The famous Horace Seymour had a hand in it. This walk will help people look at the Downtown and see how that early template still shapes the City today. Rsvp to lauren.maris@reddeer.ca so we have an idea of how many will be joining us.
