Five Unit Garbage Collection Limit
To reduce the quantity of garbage going to the landfill site, The City of Red Deer has a five unit limit on residential garbage collection.
A unit of waste is defined as:
A standard garbage bag
or
A standard garbage can
Weighing no more than 25 kg (55 lbs)
If you have more than the five unit limit, an extra tag(s) is required. The tags are $1 each and may be purchased at
City Hall
,
the
Collicutt Centre
or the
G.H. Dawe Community Centre
. Wrap the tag(s) around the top of the extra bag(s).
There are several options to help you reduce your waste:
The City's residential recycling program
The City's yard waste collection program
Backyard composting
You may also choose to deliver your extra garbage to the landfill.
