One of the places you can begin to reduce your impact on the environment is to minimize the waste from your home.

What can you do to reduce the amount of waste you throw out?

  • Monitor the amount of garbage that you throw out each week and take note of what takes up the most space in the garbage can. Try reducing the amount of that product by using less or reuse the item.
  • Buy products that have packaging that indicates it can be recycled.
  • Do not put hazardous waste into your garbage. Refer to the list of acceptable hazardous waste products that can be accepted at the Waste Management Facility.
  • Consider using Freecycle to recycle your still useable refuse.
  • Purchase a backyard composter and compost food & organic waste.
  • Make recycling a habit.
