Shingle & Drywall Recycling

The City of Red Deer’s Waste Management Facility offers shingle and drywall recycling opportunities. The City is diverting asphalt shingles and gypsum drywall for recycling. These two materials are diverted to an assigned Diversion Area.

The City is asking customers to do their part for the environment by diverting these materials from disposal to the shingle and drywall recycling program.

Quick facts about diverting these materials;

Asphalt Shingles

Acceptable material:

  •  Asphalt shingles
  • ·Felt attached to shingles

Non-Acceptable Materials

  • Wood or pallets (divert to other appropriate Diversion Area)
  • Metal flashing/gutters (divert to scrap metal)
  • Cedar shingles
  • Plastic wrap

Gypsum Drywall

Acceptable Material:

  • Gypsum Drywall – unpainted

Non-Acceptable Materials:

  • Cupboards
  • Wall fixtures or metal of any kind
