Environmental Services

The Environmental Services Department manages four sections:

  1. Waste Management
  2. Water
  3. Wastewater
  4. Construction and Maintenance
  5. Environmental Initiatives

The mandate of the Environmental Services Department is to;

  • Ensure environmentally responsible policies, plans, standards and operations related to the environmental impacts from stormwater management, potable water management, wastewater management and waste management are in place
  • Monitor the impacts on the environment of human actions and decisions regarding stormwater management, potable water management, wastewater management and waste management
  • Provide a corporate focus, contact point and organizational awareness of cross departmental environmental concerns

The Environmental Services Department is responsible for:

  • the Waste Management Facility
  •  the Wastewater Treatment Plant
  • the Water Treatment Plant
  • the garbage and recycling collection
  • the water distribution network
  • the wastewater collection system
  • the stormwater collection network
  • the Construction and Maintenance
