Red Deer’s built and cultural heritage is a vital part of our community. Promoting and supporting heritage and culture defines us as a community, promotes a sense of belonging and allows us to recognize and celebrate the lives and achievements of former and current citizens.
The City provides a range of initiatives that support our built and cultural heritage including:
-
supporting the designation, protection, restoration and renovation of historic resources, sites and heritage districts;
-
promoting heritage education and awareness through heritage signage and heritage walking, biking and driving tours;
-
providing advice, assistance and support on heritage related issues to community groups, individuals and property owners.
