Business Licenses

Depending on the nature of your business, you may require a City of Red Deer business license. A business license signifies that you have met The City of Red Deer's licensing and land use requirements and are permitted to operate your business within Red Deer.

I don't think I need a business license, but do I need an occupancy permit?

Some businesses require a business license and an occupancy permit. However, if your business type is not listed above, you may only need to apply for an occupancy permit from
Inspections and Licensing.

What is an occupancy permit?
An occupancy permit indicates that the building is safe to occupy and the use of the building complies with the Land Use Bylaw.

How do I obtain a business license and/or an occupancy permit?
To obtain a business license or occupancy permit, phone or stop by
Inspections and Licensing. They will provide you with an application, details of any other information you may be required to provide, and inform you of the business license or permit fee.
