Highways
Red Deer has immediate access to many of Alberta's major roadways.
- Alberta Queen Elizabeth II Highway (Highway 2) runs north/south and is immediately adjacent to Red Deer. It connects to major Highways 1 and 16 which run east/west.
- David Thompson Highway 11 runs east/west.
- Highways 12 and 9 run eastbound to Saskatchewan.
Airports
The Red Deer Regional Airport is 12 kilometres southwest of the city, and is Alberta's third busiest airport. It is primarily used for commercial charter flights, recreational use and training.
Edmonton and Calgary are each home to fully serviced international airports. The Edmonton International Airport is 120 km north of Red Deer and the Calgary International Airport is 140 km south of Red Deer. Both are on direct routes from Red Deer on the Queen Elizabeth II Highway (Highway 2) and are approximately 75 minutes by car. These airports offer daily flights to all major Canadian and many United States destinations. Regularly scheduled flights connect with points in Canada, the United States, Europe and the Pacific Rim.
