Council Committees

What are Council committees?
A Council committee is a committee, commission, board or other body established by Council under the Municipal Government Act. Council committees act in an advisory capacity to Council. Some committees may fill a quasi-judicial role, which means that the committee has the authority to make decisions/judgments as provided for in the Municipal Government Act.

Council committees generally fall into two categories: standing and ad hoc.

        Council Committees:
A Council committee is permanent in nature.

Ad Hoc: An ad hoc committee is set up to serve a specific purpose and is short term.
