Your Rights

  • You have the right to request access to the records held by the City of Red Deer, subject to limited and specific exceptions.
  • You have the right to access information that the City has about you.
  • You have the right to request the City to correct personal information it has about you.
  • The Act controls the way in which the City may collect personal information from you, controls the use that the City may make of your personal information and controls how the City can disclose information about you.
  • You have the right to request independent review of any issue related to FOIP by the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner.
Personal Information

Personal information is any recorded information about an identifiable individual including: 
  • the individual's name, home or business address or home or business telephone number,
  • the individual's race, national or ethnic origin, color, sexual orientation, or religious or political beliefs or associations,
  • the individual's age, sex, marital status or family status,
  • an identifying number, symbol or other particular assigned to the individual,
  • the individual's fingerprints, blood type or inheritable characteristics,
  • information about the individual's health and health care history, including information about a physical or mental disability,
  • information about the individual's educational, financial, employment or criminal history, including criminal records where a pardon has been given,
  • anyone else's opinions about the individual, and
  • the individual's personal views or opinions, except if they are about someone else.
General Information

General information is contained in records of the City. It is all information that is recorded in any form that is created by the City to conduct its programs and services.
