Recognizing an individual or team placing first in a national event or competition or first, second or third in an international event or competition.
Candidates may have competed at an amateur or professional level. Nominations will be considered only for the year in which the achievement occurred. (i.e. an athlete who has won first place in a competition in February of 2001 must be nominated by January 31, 2002). Nominations are considered only on the basis of standing in an event or competition and not for service to the sport.
Individual candidates must attain a higher standing in an event or competition to be eligible for a subsequent award. However, teams may receive the award on more than one occasion.
