Nominate someone for the Mayor's Recognition Awards

Nominations are now being accepted to recognize area residents who make Red Deer a great place to live, work and play.

The Mayor’s Recognition Awards are a way to recognize and celebrate awards and achievements and volunteer service by individuals, teams or groups, who, through their efforts and/or accomplishments, have enhanced the image of or have made significant contribution to the community of Red Deer.

The Mayor’s Recognition Awards honour recipients in four categories:
Nominations are received and award recipients are determined by the Mayor’s Recognition Awards Committee, consisting of five citizens of Red Deer, appointed by the Mayor. Membership on the committee is anonymous. The Mayor’s Recognition Awards Committee reserves the right to assign a nomination to an alternate category provided the nominator agrees to the reassignment.

Eligibility
In all categories the achievements must have enhanced the image of the community of Red Deer. Subject to the discretion of the Committee, a span of three years shall have elapsed before a previous Mayor’s Recognition Awards recipient will be considered for an additional award.

Posthumous nominations will not be accepted except for the Mayor’s Special Award in the category of “An act of heroism or bravery”.

Supporting comments and documentation:
You are encouraged to supply supporting documentation, i.e. News articles, publications, etc., however, please DO NOT forward originals. Nominations become the property of The City of Red Deer.

Nomination Deadline
The deadline for nominations is January 31, 2012. All award recipients will be selected by March 31, 2012. Decisions of the Mayor’s Recognition Awards Committee are final.
