School Resource Officer

In keeping with the RCMP National Youth Priority, members of the Red Deer City Detachment are committed to working with young people to prevent crimes involving them as either victims or offenders. As part of our school-based crime prevention programs, members from the Red Deer City Detachment are assigned as School Resource Officers (SRO) in schools within the Red Deer Public School Division and the Red Deer Catholic School Division.

For the 2006/2007 school year, a number of Red Deer City RCMP School Resource Officers have been permanently assigned to elementary, middle and high schools to offer age-specific education and crime prevention programs such as:

  • Personal Safety (Stranger/Relationship/Bullying)
  • Traffic Safety
  • Law
  • PARTY (Injury Prevention)

School Resource Officers are active within your schools. Watch for them at school events and activities.

School Resource Officers connect with parents through school newsletters
To ensure the safety and well-being of our children, youth and families, strong communication is essential. In 2006/2007, through the strong support of your school administration, Red Deer City RCMP are pleased to be able to provide an additional service to parents and students. Through submissions to school newsletters, RCMP will be able to provide you with crime prevention information and resources. Our hope is to provide you the links to important information that will ensure your family remains safe and healthy in our community of Red Deer.
