Police presence and visibility is increased in Red Deer as of May 2006 through the implementation of a three member "Community Response Unit" (CRU).
The CRU is a permanent assignment for three fully operational RCMP members who are tasked with establishing prevention, investigation and enforcement strategies through ongoing consultation with the community of Red Deer. CRU members will provide resources and support to other detachment units including the Street Team, Traffic Services and Community Policing, however Bike Patrol will be one of their primary mandates during the summer months. This will provide an increased opportunity for CRU members to meet the public and respond quickly and effectively to community needs.
