Traffic Enforcement Unit
Traffic Enforcement Unit:
Enforces various provincial statutes within the City of Red Deer: Traffic Safety Act; Gaming and Liquor Act; Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act; Petty Trespass Act; Fuel Tax Act; Prevention of Youth Tobacco Use Act; Tobacco Reduction Act and City of Red Deer bylaws.
Arrests wanted persons.
Works in conjunction with the Red Deer City RCMP Traffic Services unit on Selective Traffic Enforcement Programs. (S.T.E.P.)
Assists RCMP at motor vehicle collisions.
Transit Bylaw Enforcement:
Responds to complaints from Transit operators (bus drivers) and transit management re: bullying passengers, intoxicated persons on buses and at Transit Terminal, removes unruly passengers from buses and the Terminal.
Monitors bus zone infractions ie. parking in a bus zone.
Conducts traffic enforcement on bus routes.
Assists RCMP at motor vehicle collisions involving buses.
Bylaw Enforcement:
Responds to complaints from the general public in relation to parking violations and abandoned automobiles, as well as conducting general patrols for violations.
Investigates snow removal complaints.
Serve traffic summons and subpoenas.
Parks Bylaw Enforcement:
Conducts preventative patrols in the parks.
Responds to citizens' complaints in relation to the parks ie. off-road vehicles in the parks, campers, consumption of liquor, tree damage, littering, vandalism and graffiti.
