Traffic Services of Red Deer City RCMP facilitates community safety to realize the Minister of Transportation's Road Safety Vision 2010. Road Safety Vision 2010 is geared to reduce deaths and serious injuries on our roadways. The four main goals are detection of impaired drivers, seat belt compliance, intersection enforcement and speed detection. The goal of this unit is to provide a safe motoring environment for citizens of Red Deer.
Red Deer City Traffic Services participates with community partners in a variety of activities and projects working towards the shared goal of collision reduction and community safety.
Some of Red Deer City Traffic Services projects and activities include:

targeted enforcement of high volume traffic/high collision intersections

Red Deer City Traffic Services has an established RCMP manpower of nine members including one Sargeant, one Corporal and seven Constables. In addition, seven municipal employees complement Traffic Services to provide assistance in the investigation and enforcement of traffic bylaws and municipal bylaws within the City of Red Deer. The Traffic Enforcement Unit is comprised of four full time Special Constables/Traffic Enforcement officers whose primary role is to enforce the Traffic Safety Act. Municipal Bylaw Officers enforce the municipal bylaws including parking complaints and complaints of abandoned vehicles, as well as providing other administrative service to Red Deer Traffic Services and the Red Deer City Detachment.
Traffic Services oversees and provides administrative support to the Photo Radar and Red Light Camera enforcement programs presently in place in Red Deer.
