Cemetery Services

Our goal is to provide compassionate service to our clients and an aesthetically pleasing setting in which families may honour loved ones in our care.

The City of Red Deer owns and operates:

  • The Red Deer Cemetery (on 55 Street, north of Michener Centre)
  • The Alto Reste Cemetery (3.6 km east of 30 Avenue on Highway 11)

City cemeteries are open to the public from sunrise to sunset each day. On-leash animals are permitted onto cemetery grounds if accompanied by an adult.

As each person has different needs and wishes, The City of Red Deer offers a number of choices for traditional or cremation burials. It is a good idea to talk with family members about these options.

As you choose a burial site, remember to take into account your personal preferences along with consideration for family and friends who will wish to visit the site.

City services provided

  • Information regarding location of gravesites as well as data of use for families, genealogical researchers and funeral and memorialization professionals.
  • At need and pre-need lot or columbarium niche sales.
  • Sale of grave liners.
  • Manufacture, sale and placement of concrete monument foundations.  
  • Artificial greens and lowering device for graveside committal.
