Community Associations are major contributors to the quality of life in Red Deer. They plan activities and special events, manage local activity centres and outdoor rinks, and make sure that your neighbourhood spaces are clean, safe, and meeting your community’s needs. They also encourage community input on many levels and deal with issues and concerns such as crime and safety and planning.

The Great Neighbourhoods Initiative is community driven project based on a partnership between the Community Associations of Red Deer (CARD) and The City of Red Deer's Neighbourhood Facilities and Community Development (NFCD) area of the Recreation, Parks & Culture department. The initiative was developed to enhance the quality of life in our neighbourhoods. The initiative is growing, incorporating many of the things that the citizens of Red Deer identified as important to them in the Great Neighbourhoods Survey. See the results below.
