Leave it better than you found it
April 15 – June 16

Red Deerians don’t like litter. Most would never dream of littering, and an astounding number come forth each spring – individually, in groups, and as businesses – armed with pickers, gloves and bags, to clean up the trash and litter that have accumulated through the winter.

During the Green Deer campaign and throughout the year, the careless actions of a few are cancelled out by the energy and caring of the majority – the people who love Red Deer and take pride in the beauty of our community.

From April 15 to June 16, join neighbours, friends and coworkers in keeping Red Deer beautiful and healthy. Register for Green Deer today.

How to register

       - Register in person: Recreation Centre, Collicutt Centre or G.H. Dawe Centre
  - Register at the Green Deer Kick-off Barbeque: Monday, April 22, 5 - 6:30 p.m., Parkland Mall
   Parking Lot
  - Register by calling Recreation staff at 403-309-8411, Course Code: #60645
- Garbage bags are provided at the kick-off and from our facilities through out Green Deer.

The importance of registering
If you’re cleaning up your neighbourhood or favourite green space, please give us a call. People are encouraged to register so Green Deer organizers can distribute cleaning supplies, track the areas that have been cleaned and recognize volunteer work. Every group to register will automatically be entered into a draw to win a BBQ donated by Canadian Tire and a BBQ party hosted by KG Country & ZED 98.9.

Once you register, there are a variety of ways to get involved and have fun:
     - Challenge another group to see who can gather the most trash
     - Register to pick up litter in your own neighbourhood or one of your favourite park areas
     - Sponsor a friendly competition among those in your group and offer a prize

Garbage pile pick-up available
If you have collected large amounts of garbage, please notify Suzanne at 403-309-8411 and she will arrange to have your pile picked up. You can also put the Green Deer garbage bags with your own garbage. You will not be charged for additional garbage.
