Red Deer also has 62 outdoor rinks available for use during the winter season, including public skating at Bower Ponds. Hockey sticks and pucks are not allowed at Bower Ponds and the Family Skating Oval. The Central Alberta Lions Speed Skating Club has the Skating Oval booked for the month of January for practices and meets.
