In September 2008, the Red Deer & District FCSS Board initiated a review of FCSS funding in Red Deer, Red Deer County, Bowden, Delburne, Elnora and Penhold. The review is scheduled to be complete by May 2009.
The goal of the review is to build a strong foundation for funding decisions for the local FCSS board.
Through the review, the board will develop a better sense of what FCSS funding can accomplish in the community and how to best support the community.
The literature review serves as a basis for the development of guiding principles to lead the review process. The four concepts explored in the review are social well-being, social inclusion, prevention and best practices.

The literature review has been completed by an independent consultant as a first step in the review process.

FCSS Funding Review Stakeholder Consultations Save the Date
In late April, the FCSS Funding Review moved into another round of community input. A large number of stakeholders were invited to attend a day-long meeting on April 30 and May 1. Turnout was great, and attendees provided feedback on a draft funding model, which will be used by the Red Deer and District FCSS Board in future funding decision-making. The principles included in the draft funding model came from the literature review and were adjusted and refined through research and input from stakeholders. Feedback from the two full-day sessions and from a panel of expert reviewers has been gathered and compiled into a document called the Funding Review Report.

FCSS Program & Service Development Report On October 29 and November 1, 2010, the Red Deer & District Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) hosted four facilitated stakeholder consultations. These consultations brought together FCSS funded organizations, organizations not currently funded through FCSS, members of the health region, local school districts, and other local funders. This consultation process gathered input that will be considered during the criteria development for use by the Red Deer & District FCSS Board. The Red Deer and District FCSS Board reviewed the draft report on December 7, 2010.
