 Youth Voice Application Form 2010/2011

Become involved with YV and gain a wealth of knowledge and opportunities in municipal government and youth leadership. Meet new friends, learn new skills and build your portfolio for university, college or a future career.

Youth Voice (YV) is composed of 12 youth from around Red Deer, ranging in age from 13 to 19, who serve a one-year term. We represent a variety of backgrounds and meet weekly.

About us

Members of YV work with other youth from Red Deer and provide advice to the government on youth issues such as:

  • youth leadership
  • respect/anti-bullying
  • access to transportation and recreation
  • the youth justice system
  • education
  • the environment

Project list

YV has worked on a wide variety of community projects, including:

  • intergenerational art
  • curfew bylaw
  • work on the anti-bullying component of the Community Standards Bylaw
  • middle school to high school transition FAQ
  • youth input on community initiatives such as the Greater Downtown Action Plan, green space for the Riverside Meadows redevelopment, the Youth and Volunteer Centre organizational review, and the Recreation Facility Needs Assessment
