Shop wisely to choose your gas and electrical suppliers. Learn about the changes and how to make an informed decision. Electric Light & Power Department
The City of Red Deer's Electric Light & Power department is a regulated wires service provider. The department is responsible for planning, operating and maintaining Red Deer's electric transmission and distribution facilities to ensure delivery of power to every customer in The City's service area.

The Electric Light & Power department does not generate electricity. They are responsible for handling residential and commercial service applications and provide a range of customer services including:

  • New service constructions and connections
  • Meter installation, testing and maintenance
  • Electricity usage analysis
  • Power quality monitoring and analysis
  • Underground cable locating
  • Street light and traffic light installation and maintenance
  • Trimming trees
