Interested in the detailed workings of your utility bill? An in-depth description follows.
Customer Information
Your customer information is included at the top of your utility bill. Please review your address and if applicable, your service address, and report any errors to our Utility Billing Service Centre.
Service Address If your service address is different from your bill mailing address, please also review your service address and report any errors to our Utility Billing Service Centre.
Your Account Number
Your Account Number is located in the top section of the front of your utility bill. Keep this number close by when you are phoning the Utility Billing Service Centre, or signing-up for one of our automatic payment options.
Summary of Your Account
The Summary of Your Account section summarizes recent payments, outstanding charges, and new charges. It is the fastest way to find out how much you owe and when your payment is due.
Special Messages
Please remember to carefully read the Please Note section. This section, located in the Summary of Your Account portion of your utility bill, contains any special messages that may directly impact your account.
Remittance Stub
Return the bottom portion of your bill with your payment. This stub helps The City process your payments more efficiently. Please also write your account number on the back of your cheque.
Your payment options are listed near the end of your utility bill. This section will be updated as new payment options are added.
Payment Penalties
Information on payment penalties is listed near the end of your bill under the Paying your bill on time heading. By paying your bill on time, you avoid late payment penalties and ensure uninterrupted service. Payment terms are also included under this section.
Meter Readings
ENMAX will be reading your meter on The City's behalf. If for some reason ENMAX cannot read your meter, you may be asked to phone in your customer reading. If no reading can be obtained, The City will estimate your bill.
Water Consumption Concerns If you have a concern with your water consumption (usage), please refer to the If you have a concern with your water consumption section located at the end of your utility bill. Your water meter is located inside your house and generally has a remote device on the exterior. If the number on the remote device readout located outside of your house differs from the reading on your inside meter, please report the difference to the Utility Billing Service Centre. You can report the difference by phone, by e-mail or by mail.
Utilities Details
The Utilities Details section includes the information that The City uses to calculate your current charges.
Calculating your water charges
Your charges are calculated by multiplying your usage, by the water rate and adding the fixed water charge.
Water Consumption
Your water consumption is recorded on the back of your bill under the M3 or Cubic Metres code. It is important to report unusually high, or low, water consumption to the Utility Billing Service Centre.
