Bower Ponds Pavilion remains closed

June 19, 2007

(Red Deer, Alberta) – Bower Ponds Pavilion remains closed until further notice as The City of Red Deer repairs sewer lines to the facility.

The City closed the pavilion June 15 as a result of flooding. It will remain closed until all necessary repairs are complete. “To complete the assessment and repairs to sewer lines, several mature Poplar trees needed to be removed,” said Deb Comfort, Neighbourhood Facilities Community Development Supervisor for The City.

About six to seven trees will be removed between Great Chief Park clubhouse and Bower Ponds Pavilion. The public can still access the area, and washrooms are open at Great Chief Park clubhouse.

“We hope to be back up and running by the end of this week,” said Comfort.
