(Red Deer, AB) - Commercial building permits remain very strong while residential permits rebound.
Commercial building permits in 2008 continue to outperform 2007 figures. This month over $7 million dollars in commercial building permits were given out. Two of these major permits included the Brick Warehouse permit with a value of $3.28 million and Scott Builders for interior and exterior renovations to a commercial building at 7130 50 Avenue with a value of $2.5 million.
Residential permits rebounded in March. After lagging behind in the first two months of the year, residential permits in March exceeded the value of residential permits in March 2007 by approximately $6 million dollars. “While residential permits are still below last years record levels, they showed a significant jump in values this month, primarily due to the permit for The Views at St. Joseph’s condos (Laebon Developments) with a value of $16.5 million,” states Customer Service Specialist Shelley VanSomeren.
Other significant permits for the month included the Golden Circle addition and renovation project with a value of $2.5 million.
Monthly permit statistics will be posted on The City’s Web site at www.reddeer.ca/inspections.
