(Red Deer, AB) – A new public building permit by Medican Construction Ltd. worth $40 million boosts permit values for July.
The Medican permit, for a 148 unit assisted living/supportive housing complex, is part of phase two of Michener Hill Village at 3550 50 Street and leads permit values for July. A commercial permit, valued at $3.6 million, was issued to APM Construction Services Inc. for interior renovations to the Bower Mall Shopping Centre at 4900 Molly Banister Drive. This permit is part of the fifth phase of construction at Bower Mall and involves converting the former Convergys building into retail space. In addition, 10 permits were issued to Mason Martin Homes for multi-attached buildings at 150 Vanier Drive with a total value of $1.2 million.
The value of building permits being issued to date holds steady to last year’s value. “The low residential building permit values are being offset by commercial and public building permits of $53 million,” states Joyce Boon, Development & Licensing Supervisor.
