(Red Deer, Alberta) – Red Deer and area residents demonstrated their commitment to healthy, active lifestyles by signing up for 2,683 programs during the first three hours of fall program registration.
Of those registrations, 63 per cent or 1,699 were completed online, 31 per cent or 790 in person and nine per cent or 247 used the automated touch tone phone system.
Near the end of the business day the total number of registrations had risen to 3,158.
The City historically sees a high volume of drop-in registrations on the first day. “To ensure registration is as quick and smooth a process as possible, we have extra staff on hand to register drop-in customers for the programs they want and answer their questions,” said Greg Scott, Recreation, Parks & Culture Manager.
By 9:30 a.m. line ups were gone at both the Recreation Centre and the Collicutt Centre.
To reduce wait times, residents are encouraged to use looknbook. The City’s online booking system supported the volume demand on the first day of registration. “Many residents are unaware they can sign-up for everything from private swimming lessons to hip hop dance classes online,” said Scott.
The touch tone phone system was unavailable early in the day for a short time but the issue was resolved quickly.
Registration continues throughout the fall for community programs and services.
You can register one of three ways:
- Phone the 24 hour touch tone registration line at 403-309-8555
- Visit one of our recreation facilities
