Traffic and Transit disruptions throughout the city on August 16

(Red Deer, Alberta) – Several major roads and all transit routes will experience traffic disruptions and service delays on Saturday, August 16 from 10:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. while a motorcycle parade travels throughout the city.

Traffic disruptions
Intersections along the parade route will experience rolling closures between 11 a.m. and 12 p.m. Traffic will be disrupted for short periods of time in each area as the parade passes through. All affected intersections will be patrolled by members of the RCMP and will reopen once the motorcycles have passed.

The parade begins at the Capri Centre parking lot at the corner of Gaetz Avenue and 32 Street, and will move through the city along the following route: 

  • West on 32 Street
  • North on Taylor Drive
  • East on 67 Street
  • South on 30 Avenue
  • West on 19 Street
  • Parade ends at the Westerner Grounds (4847A-19 Street)

Motorists are advised to use alternate routes during the parade. Delays are expected. Your patience and cooperation is appreciated. For more information about the event, please contact Culture Services at

Transit disruptions
During the parade, Red Deer Transit will suspend service between 10:45 a.m. and 11:45 a.m. on all routes. Transit clients are advised of possible additional bus delays between 11:45 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. as schedules return to normal.

  • Last bus arrives at City Centre - 10:45 a.m.
  • First bus departs from City Centre - 11:45 a.m.

Buses leaving City Centre at 10:15 a.m. will reach the end of their route at 10:45 a.m. and hold there until 11:45 a.m. They will start their inbound trips at that time. For more information about the revised transit schedule, please call the Red Deer Transit Information Line at 403-342-8225.

This parade has been issued a Special Event Permit for the parade through our Culture Services department. More information about the H.O.G.
