Outdoor rinks opening soon
December 18, 2008
(Red Deer, Alberta) – The ice surfaces at Bower Ponds, Anders on the Lake pond, and Westlake pond will open for skating on Friday, December 19 in the evening.
Ice rinks with a community association attached to them, including the Speed Skating Oval will open early next week.
All other community skating rinks will open once the community association rinks are up and running.
Hockey sticks and pucks are not permitted on Bower Ponds, Anders on the Lake, Westlake or the Family Skating Oval. Please limit the use of picks and sticks to neighbourhood rinks with boards.
The City of Red Deer maintains 67 ice surfaces in various locations throughout the city. Please contact your local community association for operating hours of the community activity centre in your area.
