Maskepetoon Park temporarily closes

January 18, 2008

(Red Deer, Alberta) – Maskepetoon Park will temporarily close starting today. The closure will accommodate construction equipment operating within the park boundary as part of the Red Deer River Stabilization Project.

“Safety is our main priority, and although this park is an undeveloped natural area that public don’t often access, we want people to avoid the area while construction is underway and equipment is on site,” said Trevor Poth, City of Red Deer Parks Planning Coordinator.

The closure will remain in effect until work on the Red Deer River Bank Stabilization Project is complete. Pidherney’s Construction is the contractor for this project, and The City anticipates work will wrap-up this spring followed by comprehensive site reclamation within the park area.

“The park will reopen when the area is safe for community use,” said Poth.
