Take the Winter Active Challenge

January 16, 2008

(Red Deer, Alberta) – Get active and take part in Rise Up Red Deer’s second annual 21 Days to Form a Habit Winter Active Challenge that kicks off on February 4.

Teams are challenged to at least 30 minutes of physical activity per person, every day for three consecutive weeks - 21 days.

“Research shows it takes 21 days to break and make a new habit,” said Darcy Warawa, City of Red Deer Community and Program Facilitator. “We want people to get out, have fun and make healthy choices. The Winter Active Challenge is just one way we can remind people to be active everyday.”

Teams must consist of five people of any age. All participants must live or be employed in the City of Red Deer or Red Deer County. There will be three weekly draw prizes and a grand prize draw for those teams that follow the event rules.

“It’s a team effort and we want participants to motivate each other and work together. This challenge can help beat those winter blues and kick-start a healthy lifestyle. Participants will reap the rewards of increased physical activity,” said Warawa.

The Winter Active Challenge registration deadline is January 30 at noon.
