(Red Deer, Alberta) – On Wednesday, July 16, Red Deer Transit will be adjusting its service to accommodate the parade and shuttle people to Westerner Park in the afternoon. Throughout Westerner Days, Transit will also provide full service to the grounds on Route 10.
Parade Day Service During the Westerner Days Parade on July 16, Transit service will stop throughout the city as buses are not able to access the City Centre Terminal due to street closures in the downtown. Service will resume after the parade has concluded and the streets have re-opened. The following schedule will be in effect:
- 8:45 a.m. - Last departure from City Centre Terminal prior to parade
- 9:15 a.m. - Last arrival into City Centre Terminal prior to parade
- 12:15 p.m. - First departure from City Centre Terminal after the parade
Transit Route 9 - Lancaster / Inglewood will be rerouted away from Parkvale and the arena grounds for the entire morning until the roadway reopens.
Immediately after the parade, a Westerner Express shuttle bus will depart from the City Centre Terminal at 12:15 p.m. and 12:45 p.m. to accommodate the large number of people who go straight from the parade to the Westerner grounds. Regular Transit fares, including passes, tickets and transfers, are required for this shuttle service.
Service to Westerner Park Route 10 - College / Southpointe offers full Transit service to Westerner Park during regular transit hours. Those attending Westerner Days events are encouraged to use Transit to reduce congestion.
Fair-goers can find out how to connect to Route 10 by reviewing schedules on the Transit Routes information page at www.reddeer.ca/transit, or by accessing maps and schedules through Web Map on The City’s website at www.reddeer.ca.
