Apartment building leads May permit values

(Red Deer, AB) – A new apartment building by Candor Development Corporation leads permit values for a slow month of May.

A 16 unit multi-family building at 3516 49 Avenue with a value of $3 million leads this months figures. Another prominent permit that influenced this month’s statistics was the commercial renovation permit by contractor Stan Schalk for the Buffalo Hotel at 5031 50 Street with a value of $950,000. Carolina Homes Inc. also contributed to these numbers with a multi attached building at 31 Jamieson Avenue with a value of $820,000.

“May was a slow month for new starts in residential housing permits. The slow down is in line with the Alberta market which indicates that there is an increase in inventory of existing houses for sale as well as the onset of slipping house prices,” states Joyce Boon, Development & Licensing Supervisor.
