City and County pioneer a new type of joint planning
June 11, 2008
(Red Deer, Alberta) – The City and the County are asking residents to get involved in a project that will look at how future planning and development might occur in lands in the Red Deer County. This Joint Planning Initiative (JPI) involves identifying long range land uses, servicing and transportation corridors for the sub areas outlined below.
Open House
Date:
Saturday, June 21, 2008
Time:
9 a.m. to noon
Location:
Capri Hotel
3310 50 Avenue, Red Deer
In order to develop critical policies and framework for this area, The City of Red Deer and Red Deer County are hosting an open house, with the assistance of our consultants UMA Engineering, to get public feedback. At the open house, residents will be asked to review materials relating to the assessment of the area and provide feedback on the suggestions made earlier on the future vision and policies for the area.
This open house relates to joint planning for three sub areas:
1. City growth area (future annexation area)
2. Collaborative area
3. County lands beyond the Intermunicipal Development Plan boundary
Feedback from the public open house will contribute to a draft planning document that will be put out to the public for review in fall 2008.
More information relating to the JPI can be found on
