New stage planned for Bower Ponds – Public open house
June 12, 2008
(Red Deer, AB) – The community stage at Bower Ponds is being redesigned. Community groups and individuals are invited to attend an open house on Wednesday, June 18 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. to view proposed plans for the new stage and give input.
“We strongly encourage community groups and citizens to come view the plans for the new stage and give us their feedback,“ says Wendy Meeres, Acting Culture Superintendent. “We know that a diverse range of arts and culture groups in our community use the stage and want to give them a chance to have input on the new design. Part of the reason for the redesign is that the current stage cannot handle all of our user group’s needs.”
The open house will be held at Culture Services at 3827 39 Street. Group2 Architecture Engineering will display proposed plans and designs for the new stage.
The original Bower Ponds stage was built in 1984 and is a popular community gathering space for events including the Canada Day festival, Winterfest, outdoor concerts, and charity events.
