Rain barrel decorating challenge
June 12, 2008
(Red Deer, Alberta) – Do you love having a rain barrel in your yard but hate the way it looks? Do you have an idea to help make your rain barrel look great? Take part in The City’s rain barrel decorating challenge; show us how good you can make your rain barrel look.
“Whether you have purchased a new rain barrel from a retailer or you just want to give your old one a facelift, we encourage you to be creative and send in your designs,” said Andrea Pagee, Water Conservation Specialist.
Citizens who want to participate in the challenge can send in a picture of the decorated rain barrel for a chance to win an additional rain barrel. Contest entries must be received by August 31.
“While we greatly encourage creative designs, we ask citizens to ensure that any change to their rain barrel does not interfere with its safety features. This includes things like ensuring rain barrels stay covered and remain child and mosquito-proof,” Pagee adds.
Entries need to contain a photo of the re-designed rain barrel with the owner’s complete name and contact information. Participants may be asked for permission regarding the use of their photo online or in City of Red Deer promotional material.
Entries can be submitted by mail or e-mail to:
