Aquaclimb walls installed at Recreation Centre pool

March 11, 2008

(Red Deer, Alberta) – Swimmers can add wall climbing to their repertoire after two new Aquaclimb walls arrived at the Recreation Centre pool last week.

Each wall stands six feet wide by eight feet tall. “Young swimmers, teenagers, adults and even seniors are taking the challenge and making quite a splash,” said Tammy Greba, Recreation Centre Coordinator.

No experience is needed to climb the wall, but climbers must be able to swim two pool widths without stopping. Individuals must pass a swim test before heading up the wall.

“We’re excited to bring such a unique attraction to the City,” said Greba. “These gentle giants will add excitement to public swims, programs and birthday parties. The Aquaclimb walls are mobile and can be moved to the outdoor pool in the summer.”

Public can check out the new Aquaclimb walls for just a toonie this weekend. Admission to the Recreation Centre Pool will cost two dollars per person on Friday, March 14 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, March 15 and 16, from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.
