City hosts Employee Recognition Banquet

March 3, 2008

(Red Deer, Alberta) – On Friday, February 29, more than 200 City employees were recognized at the 27th annual Employee Recognition Banquet.

The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Bob Stollings Memorial Award. This award, established by City Council on January 21, 1985 to honour Robert E. (Bob) Stollings, a loyal and dedicated employee of The City of Red Deer from 1960 to 1984, is presented annually to an employee who has displayed outstanding civic performance in alignment with our Cornerstone Values - Respect, Integrity, Service and Excellence.

This year’s recipient of the Bob Stollings Memorial Award is Tony Woods, GIS Supervisor for The City of Red Deer. Tony has been employed with The City of Red Deer for over 27 years. He was instrumental in the creation and implementation of the Geographical Information System, and is currently working on a new Asset Management program. He is an exemplary employee and, like the previous award winners, has demonstrated The City of Red Deer’s Cornerstone Values – respect, integrity, service and excellence, which has earned him admiration throughout the organization.

Employees were also recognized in the categories of long service, safety, retirement and special recognition.
