City releases spring crime prevention publication
March 10, 2008
(Red Deer, Alberta) – On March 13, The City will distribute the fourth in a series of crime prevention publications to almost 26,000 homes in Red Deer.
The publication, titled Standing Together, highlights crime prevention strategies that are currently practiced in Red Deer. Each edition also highlights a community organization that actively contributes to crime prevention.
“The latest issue highlights a new crime prevention incentive being offered to downtown business owners, as well as some new initiatives that the RCMP have begun,” said Dean Scott, Crime Prevention Co-ordinator for The City of Red Deer. “The Standing Together publication is intended to educate people about crime prevention steps that are being taken in their community.”
Standing Together is distributed twice a year with the Spring and Fall Activity Guides. Each publication incorporates new crime prevention information specific to Red Deer.
“The City works closely with the RCMP in creating the report,” said Scott. “We hope these reports will encourage everyone to explore options to make their own neighbourhoods even safer.”
If residents don’t receive Standing Together brochures in the mail they can pick one up after March 13 at Community Services on the fourth floor of City Hall, at the Recreation Centre and Collicutt Centre, or at the Community Information and Referral Society (CiRS). This and previous issues of Standing Together, as well as the Crime Prevention and Policing Strategy, are available online at
