(Red Deer, Alberta) – While Green Deer got off to a slow start due to unpredictable winter weather conditions, the annual clean-up campaign has been picking up momentum ever since. Green Deer organizer Suzanne Jubb would like to remind everyone that it’s not too late to sign up to participate.
“Now that the sun has come out and things are drying up, we’re seeing an increase in Green Deer participation,” said Jubb. “People are continuing to register well into the campaign, as the weather improves.”
The campaign has been extended until May 18, and individuals and groups may register by calling 403-309-8411 or in person at the Recreation or Collicutt Centres.
Jubb encourages everyone to register so that they may be provided with cleaning supplies, and recognized for their work. Everyone who registers is entered to win a barbeque event hosted by Z99 and KG Country and sponsored by Canadian Tire, Save-On Foods, Fas Gas Plus Community Care and The City of Red Deer.
“The campaign runs until May 18, but we encourage people to continue to practice environmentally responsible behaviour year-round by picking up litter,” said Jubb.
