October permit values remain steady

November 3, 2008

(Red Deer, AB) – Permit values for the month of October remain steady at $8.7 million despite economic uncertainty.

New housing starts for October remain low as does the city’s lot inventory. However, The City’s Land and Economic Development department indicates there has been a high interest in the new residential lots that are coming up for sale in November.

“We know that economic uncertainty continues to be reflected in lower construction values for October,” said Paul Meyette, Inspections and Licensing Manager. “October permit values show continued growth even though the numbers are well below the record levels of 2007.”

Monthly permit statistics are available at www.reddeer.ca/inspections.
