Recyle your old phonebooks
December 2, 2008
(Red Deer, Alberta) – Recycling old Yellow PagesTM directories just got easier with The City accepting them in blue boxes from December 1 to January 31.
“It’s the first time we have ever accepted phonebooks as part of the blue box program,” said Jeff Miller, Environmental Planning Superintendent. “We want to make it as easy as possible for residents to recycle their old directories and help us keep phonebooks out of the landfill.”
All residential blue boxes must be set out by 7 a.m. on residents’ regular collection day to ensure recycling is picked up. “Garbage and blue box collection takes place Monday to Friday depending where you live in the city,” said Miller.
Residents from apartments and multi-family dwellings can also recycle their phone directories by using marked recycling toter bins located near their building.
Yellow Pages Group (YPG) is offering complimentary collection of old phone books to businesses that receive more than 50 new Yellow PagesTM directories. To access this program, please contact Megan Wellington, Environment and Recycling Manager, via e mail at enviro@ypg.com.
Blue boxes can be delivered to your door at no cost. To request a blue box or find out when your blue box is picked up each week, phone The City of Red Deer Blue Line at 403-340-BLUE (2583) or visit us online at
