2009 Taxi license plate draw
July 27, 2009
(Red Deer, Alberta) – There will be three more taxis on Red Deer streets this year after The City hosts a random draw for additional taxi license plates on August 26.
The draw for three more licenses stems from the results of this year’s census, which indicates Red Deer’s population is up by 2.4 per cent. “We are able to lease one taxi plate for every 750 residents in Red Deer,” said Erin Stuart, License/Permit Inspector.
Only qualified applicants are eligible for the 2009 taxi license plate draw. “A qualified applicant is someone who has been involved in the taxi industry in the city of Red Deer as a taxi driver or broker for a period of 30 weeks in a calendar year for two consecutive years,” said Stuart.
The 2009 taxi plate draw will take place on Wednesday, August 26 at 3 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall.
Qualified applicants may obtain a taxi license plate draw application from the Inspections & Licensing department on the third floor of City Hall.
All completed application forms for the 2009 taxi plate draw plus a $20.62, non-refundable, application fee must be received by Inspections & Licensing by Wednesday, August 12 at 4:30 p.m. Only one application per individual or broker is permitted.
A list of applicants will be available at Inspections & Licensing on Monday, August 17. Any objections must be filed, in writing, to the License / Permit Inspector by 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 19.
