Sidewalks on 49 Avenue and 48 Street will be closed during downtown parkade and transit terminal construction

July 31, 2009

(Red Deer, Alberta) – Starting Tuesday, August 5, the 49 Avenue and 48 Street sidewalks adjacent to the site will be closed and remain closed for the duration of construction on the new downtown parkade. Pedestrian traffic will be detoured to the west side of 49 Avenue in order to travel north or south and the south side of 48 Street to travel east or west. A covered walkway will be used on 49 Street to allow pedestrians use of this sidewalk.

The parkade and new transit terminal is part of the Greater Downtown Action Plan, which aims at revitalizing the downtown core. Although the construction will take place over the next year it is anticipated it will have minimal impact on residents.

The City appreciates your patience and cooperation during construction.
