(Red Deer, Alberta) – Now that demolition is complete, the former Arlington Hotel location is ready to be sold and The City is calling for proposals.
“We encourage interested individuals to go on The City’s website and look at the request for proposals” said Liz Soley, Land Services Specialist. “This site offers unlimited potential and will play an important role in strengthening the downtown business centre of the city.”
The site, located right on Gaetz Avenue, is zoned to allow a mixture of main floor commercial business with office and residential housing space above. The redevelopment of this site is supported by the Greater Downtown Action Plan, which aims at revitalization of Red Deer’s downtown.
“This project also has significant ties to the proposed Riverlands and Railyards development areas and will help bridge the link between the three core areas of downtown. We hope to find a suitable buyer who is looking to create an exciting development in the downtown area.” said Soley
The property is approximately 0.42 acres in size, fully serviced with the water, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, gas and power and comes with an asking price of $1.7 million.
The City is accepting first call for proposals and bids for development of the C1 Downtown site on or before 4 p.m. on Thursday, August 27, 2009. If no bids are received within the time frame, the site will be converted into a temporary public parking lot until a suitable development proposal is received.
Request for Proposals can be found on The City’s website www.reddeer.ca/land or at the Land & Economic Development department, 3rd Floor, City Hall located at 4914 48 Avenue, Red Deer.
